Home Network Triage

Run these checks in order to isolate the fault quickly.

  1. Check whether outage is whole-house or single device.
  2. Test gateway reachability and external DNS resolution.
  3. Verify router WAN status, DHCP health, and recent config changes.
  4. Check wifi channel overlap and signal quality in affected rooms.
  5. Validate DNS path and adblock filtering behavior if Pi-hole is in use.
  6. Document rollback before changing firewall/NAT rules.
  7. Close with a prevention action item for next visit.
